AI is everywhere, shaping the future of online business and beyond. While it’s a game-changer, many people feel nervous or even fearful about it.
Should we fear AI, or should we embrace it and learn to work with it?
I’m sharing how I went from an AI skeptic to seeing it as an essential business tool.
A year and a half ago, I found myself annoyed with AI. It seemed like everyone was talking about it, and I wasn’t ready to jump fully on the bandwagon. I wanted to stay human, use my brain, and not rely on AI for everything. I was using a little, but not FULLY as much as I am today.
Over time, I realized that my perspective was short-sighted. By embracing AI for online business, I’ve been able to work more efficiently and even improve my business strategies.
If you’ve been hesitant about AI, take a minute to think back to when you first started using the internet.
I remember my first online business experience in 1998 with a simple website for my Mary Kay business. It felt like the Wild West, but eventually, online shopping became second nature.
AI today feels similar: new, uncertain, but full of potential. And just like the internet didn't, AI isn’t going anywhere.
I’ve started treating AI like a virtual assistant. One thing that’s worked well for me is speaking to AI in a conversational tone, just as I would with a team member.
I’ve heard that being polite and using natural language actually improves AI responses, and I’ve found that to be true.
ChatGPT allows us to create ongoing conversations so I’ve organized my AI chats by topics like:
social posts
podcast scripts
and content ideas.
This helps AI learn my voice and style, making our collaboration even more effective. For example, when preparing this very script, I asked AI to analyze my content and suggest improvements. It asked insightful questions that helped refine my message.
AI processes information faster than any human, making it a great tool for brainstorming.
I use it to research SEO keywords and generate content ideas. But course, AI doesn’t replace human creativity.
It’s still crucial to listen to your audience, engage in conversations, and pay attention to real problems in your niche's world. For me that's the online business-world.
Google prioritizes content that includes E-E-A-T:
Experience (personal stories)
Expertise (your knowledge or insights from others)
Authoritativeness (why you’re qualified to share on the topic)
Trustworthiness (accuracy and credibility)
AI can assist with ideas, but adding your unique perspective is what makes content valuable and more likely to be optimized for SEO.
Writing can be tough, and sometimes that blinking cursor feels impossible to move past. Words are hard.
AI helps me generate drafts that I can tweak and refine, cutting my writing time in half. I’m particularly good at knowing what I don't like and editing, and AI gives me a solid starting point to refine my ideas. Whether it’s crafting emails, blog posts, or podcast scripts, AI helps me streamline my writing process while keeping my content authentic.
AI might feel uncertain and even a little intimidating right now, but experimenting with it has made me more comfortable. The key is to embrace AI, use it strategically, and remember that you’re still in control.
Technology is evolving, and those who adapt will stay ahead.
So, are you ready to integrate AI into your business?
I’d love to hear how you’re using it or if you’re still on the fence. Let’s keep the conversation going!
